Thanksgiving, New Moon, and Yummy Food!

The holidays have officially begun. The radio and all stores are now playing Christmas, the crazies have done their 2 in the morning shopping (no offence Joe!) and there is less than a month to Christmas. I can't believe it. But I love it!
Thanksgiving was good. I woke up and decided that cinnamon rolls would be a good holiday food. I made the dough, and went to find a warm place to put it. What better place to put it than by the pellet stove? Wrong. It totally didn't rise there. After about an hour and a half I moved it to the oven that was on. I put it on top and within 10 minutes it had doubled in size. You got me, I have no idea what happened. So after growling stomachs almost ate us, we finally had breakfast at like 11:20! Oops. Maybe I should plan better next time!
Then we relaxed around the house, looked at black Friday deals, and watched t.v. Around 1:20 we headed off to dinner with Joe's family. We didn't do traditional Thanksgiving dinner. We did Mexican and had fajitas and such. Not sure why, maybe they were just in the mood for a switch up. Hung out there for a while then headed over to my parents for pie. It isn't Thanksgiving at all unless I have my dad's pumpkin pie. It is bad to have such an obsession with it? I really can't eat any other pumpkin pie than his.
New Moon. Enough said. Well, not really. I really think I was the only one in the universe that liked the first one. I'm easily pleased with this kind of stuff. I love the books, so I wasn't expecting either of them to live up the them. But New Moon stayed pretty close to the book. It was well done and I loved it!!! Warning: A rant is about to come. People sometimes bother me. Why go to a movie that you know you are going to make fun of? Save your money and see something that you can keep your mouth shut at. There was a group behind us that was making fun of the whole thing. You are in a theater with loads of other people. Shut up and let the rest of us enjoy it. I am totally okay with it if you don't like the books or movies. It's preference. But if you don't like it, don't go see it and blab the whole time. Rant over.
Back to thanksgiving. I made some pumpkin bars and LOVED them. So I thought for the benefit of you pumpkin lovers out there, I would share. So yummy and super easy. Sorry no pictures of it though. One other side note real quick, I cut this recipe in half so it didn't make so much and it worked great, but this is the original recipe.

Pumpkin Bars
6 eggs
1 1/2 c. oil
3 c. sugar
1 1/2 tsp. vanilla
3 1/4 c. flour
1 1/2 tsp. baking soda
1 tbsp. cinnamon
1 1/2 tsp. salt
1 lrg. can pumpkin (29 oz.)
chocolate chips or cream cheese frosting (or both)
Mix together eggs, oil, sugar, vanilla, and pumpkin. fold in dry ingredients and chocolate chips and pour into Jelly roll pan (13x18). at this point, you can sprinkle pan more chocolate chips. Bake at 350 degrees for 30-40 minutes until toothpick inserted in center comes out clean. do not over bake. frost with cream cheese frosting.
Cream cheese frosting (If frosting whole pan, double)
1 pkg. cream cheese
1 c. powdered sugar
8 tbsp. butter, softened
1 tsp. vanilla
Blend together cream cheese and butter until smooth. beat in powdered sugar and vanilla.
So yummy and hope you enjoy. Also, here are the pictures that wouldn't work from the last post!

Such a copy cat. Anything Joe does, Jacob is sure to follow.
This is Jacob's prayer face. This is how he prays everytime. I love it. Now he is starting to fold his arms and close his eyes for part of it too.

Sounds like your Thanksgiving was sooo good! New Moon . . . I didn't read the books, but I've heard it's wonderful! I can't wait to try your recipe, you know how I love food. Jacob is truly daddy's little man, so cute. Love your kitchen!

Hi Val, I am hanging out at my parents house today and one of our favorite activities is to look at blogs. The recipe looks yummy and Jacob's prayer face is cute cute! BUT the one thing I love the most is the fancy green package in the top picture. Was this part of the unusual Thanksgiving???? Love ya Val, thanks for the laugh!

Hahaha!! The prayer face is so funny! I totally saw New Moon too and I must say, much better than the first movie. I saw it with my sis and we had some pretty good laughs at the shirtless cheese- like when Jacob gave his whole shirt to Bella when she hit his head, and how after watching an entire movie of shirtless, super-buff, tan guys Edward looks oh so not appealing in his skinny pale glory at the end of the movie... haha. Anyway, glad you had a great Thanksgiving! :) Yay for the holidays!

New Moon was way good! And I agree about people should be quiet and let others enjoy the movie. Why waste 10 bucks on something you don't even really care about? And P.S.-Jacob's prayer face is hilarious!
