Paying Off

If your Sunday's are anything like ours, it is a struggle. It is a struggle to keep Jacob still, occupied, or quiet during sacrament meeting. It kind of reminds me of the talk of Elder Bednar where he thinks that nothing is paying off, that they never pay attention. It is a success if we get through the sacrament without water all over or Jacob taking a handful of the bread. It just kind of feels like he doesn't understand or even care about what or why we are there. I know he is young, but we try to instill in him that this is a good thing that we do every Sunday.

Well, tonight it started to pay off. Jacob had a biscuit that he was sitting on the floor eating. Joe went to check on him and noticed he had torn it to bits. He asked Jacob what he was doing and Jacob had his head bowed. He lifted his head and said Amen! Bread daddy! And gave Joe a piece of it!! He does know that it is an important thing! He doesn't understand why, or what he is doing, but he does know that it is important to me and Joe and therefore, thinks it is important also. Joe told me this and I got teary eyed. He is growing up so fast and I just goes to show how important a parents example is in a child's life and how young they start picking up on things. So glad that we have the gospel in our lives and that we can teach Jacob all that is sacred and close to us. Such a blessing!

They do listen and pay attention, more than we will ever notice. It's usually the things that you don't want them learn or listen to that they pay the most attention to! He is such a sweet boy - one day he will be passing the sacrament and blessings it! Love you.

I don't know if it's because I can relate or just because it's so sweet, but I love this little story. It's a wonderful reminder to me that they actually DO learn these things that we work so hard to teach them! Thanks for posting this!

Oh my goodness. That is such a sweet story. I love our little Jacob. He is so sweet. Kiss him for Grandma. They understand so much more than we give them credit for. Love you, you and Joe are great parents.
