I remember in high school on the anniversary of this very event, one of my teachers told us where he was the exact day that President Kennedy was shot. He told us the very details of what he was doing, where he was at, what he was wearing, and so forth. I believe that this will be one of those days for us. So, in memory, I am going to share what both Joe and I were doing that day.
Valerie: I was eating breakfast at our table and Good Morning America was on. I wasn't really paying attention until everyone got really somber and annonced that an airplane had hit one of the twin towers. They weren't sure why or any of the details. All I could think was, how could someone be flying so low and do that!? Once I got to school, I was in my art class and the teacher rolled a t.v. into the room and turned it on so we could see what happened. All of the details unraveled and it became apparent that we had been attacked. All of our sense of security was torn away from us and we no longer felt safe.
Joe: (From Val's words, Joe doesn't want to type, hahah) He was in the MTC preparing for a mission. They left early that morning to catch the flight out to where they were going to actually serve their missions. They arrived at the airport and everything was stalled. They were not able to fly out that morning because of the tragic events that had happened previous. They waited in the airport for hours waiting for some kind of news of what happened and what was going to happen to their plans. They had to wait 2 more weeks to even fly out because of cautionary results.
I love this country so much. I love the unity that we once had shortly after the attack and the family like bond we had with people we didn't even know, just because we were going through the same thing. I would like to thank all the service men and women that daily protect us from something like that happening and protect our freedoms! They are in our prayers daily and have 100% support from us. Thank you!!

I love your comments Valerie and Joe. I feel the same way. That is why I shook the hand of the Army Man that was at your house cleaning carpets last week. I always try to shake there hand and tell them thank you when I meet one. God Bless America.

Val, I remember Laura drove me to school that day. When I got in the car, she said she was spooked. I didn't know what she was talking about or that anything had happened, so she told me about the plane. I remember not really believing it until I watched it for myself; the whole thing was very surreal. Thanks for the post and helping us to remember!

Val, you are so right, we were so united right after 911 - wouldn't it be nice if it were that way all the time? I guess it takes US to start! Thanks for sharing, very touching. Never Forget!!

I feel the same and totally agree with your comments. That is why I always try to do a little something extra for our servicemen that are flying whether it be letting their families through security with them or upgrading their ticket. I remember that day I was at work and freaking out cuz I knew Joe was suppose to fly from the MTC that day. I love our country and am so thankful for the servicemen that protect our country and therefore us....one thing I have learned our freedoms are NOT free these young men and women are paying for them on our behalf!!! I am forever grateful to them.
