Smorgasbord of Things

This is just a random post of little things. There are a lot of little things that I wanted to blog about, but they weren't big enough to get there own post. More like a bullet list of things!
~Joe's business. He got a thing to go across his back window, so he can advertise while driving. It turned out great!!

~Cupcakes. I promised Jacob a treat today of his choice. He chose cupcakes. As I was making them, he kept saying it was his birthday. He thinks that because I made him these, it is his birthday. And he kept singing happy birthday to himself. It was too cute, and I didn't have the heart to tell him otherwise.

~Sugar Rush. I left my 25 lb. bucket of sugar out while canning jam. Jacob walked up to me with a white rim of grains around his mouth. I asked what he was eating and without skipping a beat, said "Sugar. Mommy, this is good!" Great.

~Canning disaster. Okay, so I was making apricot jam. I didn't have a pot big enough that was clean. I didn't think it would be that big of a deal. It was. It boiled over. Bad. Like, it looked like that there was full out, burning our house down fire. The smoke was billowing out of our back door. My eyes, throat and nose were burning so bad that I had to go out side. I now have a new respect for the firemen and women who bravely go IN TO situations like that (smoke wise) I never want to be in that again!! My poor stove. I'm still working on getting the first layer off.

~Canning Outcome. Despite my mishap, it all turned out great! Yesterday, I helped my mom can 24 pints of green beans for me. Today, I canned 3 pints of pickles, and 19 jam jars (1/2 pint I think) of apricot jam. I also froze 4 yellow squash. There really is nothing better than hearing the popping sound of a jar sealing. So fulfilling!!

~Bike Rides. Lately, Joe has been working late at night. So to get out of the house, Jacob and I go on bike rides. We usually take the same route, but we have a blast. He came out today telling me he was ready for our ride. So cute. Buzz hat and buzz bike. Adorable!

I love this blog. And I am so proud of you for all the canning you do. It is great. Now, to clean up that stove. That will be a trick. I love you, Mom
